Project Description

Sellwood Park Kitchen Building

Through our on call contract with Portland Parks and Recreation, we worked with City staff, a structural engineer and the contractor to design and provide construction support for the kitchen building renovation. Custom water boxes were detailed to collect rapidly flowing rainwater as it hits the steep 21:12 roof pitch. The team designed new structural columns to replace the existing, deteriorating, supports. Built in 1923, the Sellwood Park Kitchen Building’s style is from the height of Tudor revival in this area, tucked within the trees of Sellwood Park, adjacent to the Sellwood Bathhouse.
